Shuichi Fujie, President and Representative Director of Primo Japan Co., Ltd., took the stage for a panel discussion at the Nikkei Business Innovation Forum “The Forefront of Sustainability Management and DX Promotion” (sponsored by the Nikkei Keizai Shimbun), which was held in Tokyo on November 1, 2023.

◆About the discussion

Fujie talked of how store design for the i-PRIMO Ginza Flagship Store, which was relocated in October 2022, received a special mention in an internationally prestigious design awards program. In keeping with i-PRIMO’s main product, natural diamonds, a space was created that avoided petroleum-based materials as much as possible, using natural materials such as earth, wood from broad-leaf trees, and glass to create an environmentally-friendly store design that generated acclaim and led to our receiving this award.

Fujie also mentioned that we thoroughly research and confirm that diamond mining is conflict-free. In other words, our diamonds are not supplied from conflict-affected areas, meaning that diamond mining does not become a source of funds for civil wars.

Going forward, we will continue to proactively address issues related to sustainability.
