Code of Conduct: Five Values

Our code of conduct outlines our “Five Values,” or core standards for employee best practice. Our “Five Values” prioritize our customers by encouraging employees to support them as they shop for “a memory to last a lifetime.” Through our “Five Values,” we aim to foster “PRIMO-ism” among our staff, as well, which allows us to share in our customers’ happiness.

Recruitment/Training/Evaluation/Placement

The most important management resource to help customers have a memorable Primo shopping experience is personnel with a high level of customer service skills who are attuned to the customers’ feelings. We have recruited many of its employees on a full-time basis based on the understanding that we will invest in long-term human resource development. To this end, we have launched our own educational program “Primo College” for employees to participate in for ten years after joining the company. Focusing on the three pillars of “Mind,” “Knowledge” and “Skill,” we are cultivating our employees’ strengths, which form the basis of hospitality. Along with the expansion of our overseas business in recent years, we are actively promoting exchanges among our employees between business locations in Japan and overseas so that they can share experience and know-how with one another. By providing employees from different backgrounds a stimulating environment in which they can enrich and empower each other, we are working towards cultivating a management team that respects diversity.

Diversity & Inclusion

■Diversity & Inclusiveness Policy

We uphold the corporate philosophy of making Primo (the best) dreams into Primo (supreme) happiness. The thinking behind this philosophy stems from our desire to provide couples getting married with a reminder of the happiest moment in their lives by transforming that memory into a ring to keep from this day forward, eternally, and we are expanding globally based on this concept.

We promote mutual respect for diversity regardless of race, nationality, creed, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. As values diversify with the changing times, our policy for diversity and inclusion is to realize the provision of meticulous proposals that are close to the feelings of our customers, and to create an environment in which all employees can work actively and enthusiastically by making the most of their individual strengths. We will also establish regulations for preventing harassment, stipulate guidelines that employees must comply with and measures for preventing various forms of harassment in the workplace, and strive to realize a society that respects diversity.

■Diversity & Inclusiveness Initiatives

In order to improve the work environment for our entire workforce, which is more than eighty percent female, we at Primo Japan started by enhancing our childcare leave policies and childcare support. As a result, in 2017 we were the first company in the bridal industry to be awarded the highest “Eruboshi (L-Star)” rating in promoting the participation and advancement of women in the workforce, and were awarded “Kurumin Certification” in 2018 as a company that supports childcare.

In addition to our “Primo College” skills development program, which offers employees the chance to learn through a well-balanced and systematic training program for 10 years after joining the company, and also our “Status Anniversary” system, which ranks employees based on the number of years since first joining the company, regardless of gender, age, or disability, we have also introduced training for all employees beginning in 2020 to deepen understanding of LGBT. We are also actively working to improve the environment for LGBT employees through reforms such as changing the official company definition of “spouse” and permitting the use of business names, for which we received the Gold Award in the "PRIDE Index 2023" established by the voluntary organization "work with PRIDE".

We are implementing such initiatives to ensure that each employee shines individually and to guarantee that employees can take pride and find satisfaction in their work with the company for many years to come.
