◆ Reasons for Winning: the I-PRIMO Ginza Main Store

This is the first I-PRIMO store and the largest bridal ring specialty store in Japan. Since its opening at the end of July 1999 and renovations in April 2015, this store has operated in Ginza, Tokyo for more than 20 years, and relocated in October 2022 in order to remodel the store design and revamp the storefront display.

The concept behind the store is, "The first door to marriage." The entrance to a bridal ring specialty store is the first door to marriage for couples getting married, so we designed the store to embody the solemnity of the moment when a church door is opened, using clean white as the base color to express the many happy moments of the couple. In keeping with our main product, natural diamonds, we created a space that avoided petroleum-based materials to the extent possible, using natural materials such as earth, metal, hardwood, and glass to create an environmentally-friendly store design that received acclaim and led to our receiving this award.

◆ About the German Design Award

The German Design Award is a prestigious international design award hosted by the German Design Council, established in 1953 under the auspices of the German parliament. Only works nominated by the German Design Council are entered from among excellent works from around the world that have received design awards. There are four awards, Gold, Winner, Special Mention, and Nominee, and items with particularly excellent design among the nominees are awarded Gold, Winner, or Special Mention.
