A fresh group of 59 employees joined the company and a Welcome Ceremony was held at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo. Since first receiving unofficial offers on October 1st, and undergoing half a year of pre-employment job training as trainees, this group has gained confidence and strength since the ceremony in which they first received their job offers and now stand as dignified, capable new recruits. Selected from approximately 1,500 interviewees, these new recruits brought shining, smiling faces to their interviews in the hopes of one day joining the company, and looked forward to a bright future with smiles on their faces.

In his opening remarks at the beginning of the Welcome Ceremony, President Sawano offered the new recruits his own thoughts about personalized customer service, which values the needs of each individual customer : “Congratulations to everyone joining the company today. While it is our job to make a bride and groom’s dreams come true at the best moment of their lives, the needs of our customers are extremely diverse. This is not in the manual, but I would like you all first to focus on the customers sitting in front of you, and to offer blessings for their happiness, so that you can respond to their needs more personally as you help them choose a ring. In addition, our job of continuously staying attuned to our customer’s feelings and responding to their needs places us within a ‘high value-added industry’. Even as technology develops and the introduction of AI will be a necessary step to take in the future, I hope you will keep this in mind and enjoy your day-to-day work.”

This year’s speech on behalf of the new recruits was given by Ms. Mutsumi Kobayashi. Ms. Kobayashi, who always has a smile on her face, said: “The thing that was at the root of my job search was whether a company had an environment in which I could work together with my colleagues. Inside many companies, I remember how the senior employees who worked together, remembering to encourage one another and improve themselves, seemed to really shine. With this in mind even when she started as a trainee in October, Ms. Kobayashi continued with a smile: “When handling bridal jewelry, I felt more nervous than I had ever felt before. But each and every one of the senior employees took great care and attention teaching me and supporting me in my development during training. I especially feel that if I can spend each day at Primo Japan, where new ideas and concerns can be discussed freely among colleagues, whether brought up by senior employees to their subordinates, or by junior employees to their superiors, I can transform my own worries about becoming a new member of society into confidence.”

With Ms. Kobayashi’s powerful words, the 59 new recruits joined a brighter Primo Japan. After a two-day overnight training retreat, the new employees arrived at their various placement stores. Together with our new colleagues, we at Primo Japan will continue to do our utmost to respond to the diverse values of our customers, and to provide personal support to each and every customer.
