On April 1, 2016, The Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace (Women’s Participation and Advancement Law) came into full effect in Japan, raising the level of discussion of women’s success and bringing the issue into everyday discourse.

Eighty-five percent of employees working at Primo Japan are women. The number of store managers who are women is also close to 80%. More than 50% of our management is female. Even before the law came into effect, Primo Japan was a company built on female participation and advancement. Through the PRIMO RING PROJECT, one of our cross-company CSR activities, we have a proven track record of empowering our employees, who feel confident raising their hands and participating in establishing and implementing new systems within the company.

As a result of these efforts, we have achieved the highest rank in all five criteria set by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare: Recruitment, Employee Retention, Working Hours, Rate of Women in Management, and Diversity of Career Progression. In recognition of our status as a company where women actively participate, we have been awarded the highest rating (3 L-Stars). Although there are many women said to be employed in the bridal industry, we were doubly pleased that our company was the first in the industry to achieve certification.

In bridal jewelry sales, advisers have many opportunities to ask customers about their lifestyle and cherished values through face to face consultations. Nothing makes us happier than when customers feel comfortable during these interactions and take away a positive memories of their bridal advisers as a female role model living an active working life.

At Primo Japan, our diverse team of employees works diligently regardless of gender, and we will continue to make every effort to bring more customers happiness in the future.
