At Primo Japan, we believe in the philosophy that “Each of our employees is our greatest asset, the source of all our strength.” We are therefore focusing on recruitment activities through our Human Resources Development Department. Through the strength of our store network in various parts of Japan, and the support of our regional unit managers and each store manager, and by holding information sessions in as many places as possible, we were able to recruit many new employees during a busy recruitment season. Thanks to these efforts, we interviewed 1,300 students as potential candidates, and were able to make offers to 64 new “freshman” employees to join the company, which was slightly more than we had planned,

To begin the process of “polishing” our rough diamonds into brilliantly shining diamonds, our 64 new employees participated in a 3-day, 2-night orientation training (“polishing”) session immediately after the ceremony to mark their entry into the company. Here, we began by introducing our company’s unique “Five Values” code of conduct and gave an overview of key points to be aware of when working at our store locations through discussion and group work. To finish their training, new employees made a pledge to “value compassion and honesty” as a fundamental goal for the members of the class of 2017. With this pledge etched into their hearts, they departed for their respective posts with bright, shining, smiling faces.

After moving to their new job assignments, each new employee will continue their on-the-job training (OJT) under the supervision and guidance of senior employees called “trainers”, making their in-store debut one month later. As advisers on engagement rings and wedding rings, our new employees learn through in-house training called “Primo College” and also by continuing to study diligently on their own, to always be attuned to the smiles and happiness of the customers, supporting them as they make purchases that symbolize memories to last a lifetime.
