Based on our company philosophy, “Making PRIMO (the Best) Dreams into PRIMO (Supreme) Happiness, we launched the “Working Style Reform Project” in October 2019, with the dual aim of “improving labor productivity” and “improving work-life balance.” We have been working to create an environment in which diverse human resources can play an active role. In addition to making changes to working styles such as teleworking or flextime, we also support health promotion campaigns and are making efforts to improve the environment within the company for LGBTQ+ employees, which not only raised the value and productivity of each individual employee, but also provides them with fulfilling work and a more affluent lifestyle, resulting in an environment in which people can feel positive and enthusiastic about their work. 

 In December 2021, Primo Japan received “Gold” in the “PRIDE Index 2021” in recognition of our LGBTQ+ initiatives within the company as part of our diversity management. We are deepening our understanding of LGBTQ+ issues and creating a work environment free from discrimination and prejudice through a range of initiatives such as establishing LGBTQ+ guidelines; introducing LGBTQ+ training to all employees; changing the definition of “spouse” within our company systems and eliminating the need for evidence to prove family relationships; sponsoring Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2021; introducing trousers as an option for our store uniforms and allowing employees free choice of uniform. In the future, as we strive to further spread understanding within the company and foster an environment where everyone can work comfortably, we will also actively introduce engagement rings and wedding rings to LGBTQ+ couples through our continuing sponsorships and direct participation in external LGBTQ+ events and activities in order to promote “happiness in the shape of a ring that is not bound by gender.”

At Primo Japan, we will continue to implement various approaches to work style reforms while creating, as our number one priority, an environment in which employees can shine as individuals and make the most of their individual strengths through their work.
