On July 5, 2018, Primo Japan was awarded Kurumin Certification by the director of Tokyo Rodokyoku (Tokyo Labour Bureau) in recognition of compliance with standards for child-rearing support set by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Already the recipients of the “Highest Eruboshi (L-Star) Rating” as a company that promotes women’s participation and advancement in February 2018, with this new Kurumin Certification, we have become the only company (*1) in the bridal industry (*2) to achieve “Double Certification”.

To achieve Kurumin Certification, a certification system in which the Minster for Health, Labour and Welfare certifies companies based on the “Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children”, companies are required to develop and submit an action plan based on this law, and then implement the plan and achieve its goals within a specified period of time. In April 2017, factors such as paternity leave acquisition rates increasing dramatically led to a revision of standards for certification, making them stricter than before. Only companies meeting these higher standards were permitted to display the “Kururin Mark” (pictured above right). We received this certification in 2018 based on an action plan covering the period between June 2015 and May 2017 in which we met our target levels.

At Primo Japan, we have continued our efforts to “develop human resources”, which includes from the perspective of diversity. While 88% of our employees are women (*3), beginning in 2016 we have extended the professional development program for our employees significantly from three years to ten years in order to promote the advancement of women further, and have also implemented a more equitable performance evaluation system and are actively promoting human resource exchange both within in Japan and overseas. In addition to the positive steps we are taking towards a more employee-friendly working environment through our “Family Ring” system, which supports the happiness of employees and their families through the three principles of welfare, childcare and nursing care support, for 2019 we are also starting a “Health & Wellness” campaign targeting “Physical and Mental Fitness” in order to promote wellness, disease prevention, and prevention of mental illness among our employees.

At PRIMO JAPAN, as we expand our business in a global marketplace, we continue to make efforts to cultivate human resources, as well as to promote workplace diversity in order to create equal opportunities for employees of various nationalities, genders, ages and cultures.
