PRIMO JAPAN is pleased to report on the results of an initiative undertaken by the PRIMO RING PROJECT, one of our company-wide CSR activities, in which project members welcomed local junior and senior high school students to certain store locations for a workplace learning experience.

Workplace learning experience is an activity that is widely practiced among elementary, junior, and senior high schools throughout the country in collaboration with various local businesses. Students gain real-life experience of occupations by working in actual offices and learning from people working there. At PRIMO JAPAN, three of our I-PRIMO store locations ? I-PRIMO Kyoto (Kyoto), I-PRIMO Yamagata (Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture), and I-PRIMO Yokkaichi Star Island (Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture) offered workplace learning experiences to a total of 11 participants (8 junior high school students and 3 high school students) over a total of 7 days this past May and July.

On the actual work experience days, after introductory greetings and confirming basic workplace procedures, students were able to experience service provided by our staff from the point of view of the customer, and afterwards experienced handling diamonds and wrapping with ribbons. We developed a program of activities that students would find easily accessible, such as learning about how diamonds are produced, a workshop session in which students were asked to imagine a “dream proposal” from the customer’s point of view, and so on. At first, the students were nervous, but, through interactions with our employees in the calm atmosphere of their surroundings, they gradually became more comfortable. Meanwhile, seeing the students take this workplace learning experience so seriously was a good opportunity for our employees, too, who said on the day that this experience reinforced the essence of customer service and their own interactions with customers, and reminded them of how they themselves started out.

Finally, we were pleased to hear students’ responses to our participant questionnaire, including “I became interested in the bridal industry”, “It was fun handling the diamonds”, and “I love the staff and the brand!”

At PRIMO JAPAN, we will continue to promote various CSR activities through our PRIMO RING PROJECT.
