Primo Japan Inc., announces that, as a part of its CSR activities titled "PRIMO RING PROJECT", a conservation activity was held on May 31 along the Route 469 (in Fujinomiya city, Shizuoka Prefecture) on the Southern foot of Mt.Fuji.

Our corporate logotype includes not only "people" and "people’s relationship" by using a kanji character "人" but also the beautiful scenery of Mt.Fuji, as a symbol of Japan, reflected on the surface of water to describe that we develop our global business with the concept of “Omotenashi”, a Japanese way of hospitality. We have participated in annual clean-up activities of Mt. Fuji since 2013 in collaboration with Fujisan (Mt.Fuji) Club, a Nonprofit Organization.

As the new trial in our 6th year of this activity, we first implemented the “Invasive Plant Extermination” to inherit the indigenous species of Mt. Fuji as well as clean-ups just as we have done since 2013. For our better understanding about those plants’ negative impact against the diverse eco-system in nature of Mt. Fuji, a Fujisan Club member offered an orientation for the participants at our HQ office in Tokyo one day earlier.

Twenty of voluntary members from our shops and offices throughout Japan participated in the activity despite of a shower occasionally. After some tutorial on the activity, members started to exterminate Coreopsis Lanceolata, which is now known to be outcompeting native plant and has been labeled an invasive species by Ministry of the Environment, although they are quite similar to Cosmos. We finally got rid of as many as 2,100 plants of Coreopsis Lanceolata by removing not only its flowers, stems and leaves but also its roots and rhizomes. Moreover, we also did clean-ups for collecting 36kg of litters, and it counted for that the total volume of the litter we collected has finally reached 1,000kg since 2013.

Although our contribution to the environment of Mt. Fuji is limited, we believe that our steady and continual activities can finally be valuable aid in conservation some day in future.

Primo Japan will continue to develop our CSR activities further through the PRIMO RING PROJECT.
