Primo Japan Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Sawano), operator of Japan’s largest chain of bridal jewelry specialty stores, announces that as part of its social contribution activities, its cross-company CSR project team, Primo Ring Project, recently held a clean-up event on Mt. Fuji. The clean-up was held on June 18 under the auspices of the Fujisan Club, an NPO, and covered the area around the Tori Oi Kubo forest road in the Obuchi district of Fuji-shi, Shizuoka Prefecture.

A total of 27 Primo Japan employees participated in this third annual event, and collected 330 kilos of trash in two and a half hours, which is a new record. It was surprising to see so many “Illegal Dumping Prohibited” signs, perhaps because the area was adjacent to a national highway. Despite the signs, however, there was a great deal of large furniture, appliances and other items probably discarded during household moves, and the participants could see for themselves just how serious the trash problems are in the area around Mt. Fuji. Everyone agreed to continue these clean-up events, in the hope that one day they will no longer be necessary.

Primo Japan will continue to promote its social action programs through the Primo Ring Project.
