Primo Japan Inc. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Sawano), operator of Japan’s largest chain of bridal jewelry specialty stores, announces the results of its annual attitude survey, in which 595 men and women in their 20s and 30s who either got engaged or were married within the past year were asked their opinions about marriage proposals.

Results of the latest survey are available on the company’s “Preparing to Propose” website (http://www.iprimo.jp/propose/research, in Japanese only), along with the results of past surveys, which have been conducted annually since 2008.

In addition to surveying the state of marriage proposals, engagement ring purchases, budgets and other issues, this year’s questionnaire also focused on marriage proposal attitudes and trends among men who defy stereotypical gender behavior, a group that has recently been the subject of much media coverage.
Under our usual “What famous person would you like to propose to or be proposed by?” question, it was interesting to note that the top answer for both men and women was the first top winner.

Primo Japan will continue focusing resources on developing a marriage proposal culture, and to providing services that enhance even further that one special moment for all marrying couples.
