Primo Japan Inc. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Sawano), operator of bridal jewelry specialty stores, announces that as part of its social contribution activities, its cross-company CSR project team, Primo Ring Project, recently held a clean-up event on Mt. Fuji. The clean-up, which was held under the auspices of the Fujisan Club, an NPO, was conducted on May 22 along Prefectural Highway 24 and other older roads in the Obuchi district of Fuji-shi, Shizuoka Prefecture.

A total of 29 Primo Japan employees participated in the event, which was held for the first time in last year. Primo Japan employees collected 190 kilograms of trash in two and a half hours. The participants learned from the Fujisan Club that, although Mt. Fuji was listed last year as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there continue to be problems with trash and a range of other issues. Through the clean-up, participants gained a keen sense of just how important it is to continue supporting such efforts. Many also noted that by participating in this event, they’ve become more aware of environmental preservation issues, which has encouraged them to find ways to reduce the trash they generate in their day-to-day lives and be more conscientious about picking up trash along the streets.
