Primo Japan Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Sawano), operator of bridal jewelry specialty stores, announces that as part of the company’s CSR activities, its cross-company CSR project team Primo Ring Project participated in a volunteer photo-cleaning project run by disaster recovery group Omoide Kaeru.

To date, Primo Japan Inc. has provided support following the Great East Japan Earthquake by donating funds and conducting disaster-relief volunteer activities. During a project meeting held in May, team members expressed increased interest in the need for ongoing support, and for engaging in activities more closely aligned with the company’s management philosophy. They chose to participate in this latest project as a way of helping to preserve the tangible memories of the disaster victims.

Activities started with a briefing on the history behind Omoide Kaeru’s founding and the methods used in cleaning photos. There are five steps to the process: (1) Photos are cut from albums; (2) The photos are rinsed with water; (3) The photos are dried; (4) The photos are stored in pocket-sized albums; (5) The photos are placed on exhibit. Among these steps, the group focused on the first step, cutting the photos from albums. A total of 18 people, including regular volunteers, worked together to remove large number of photos from damaged albums.

Going forward, Primo Japan will continue to promote its social action programs through the Primo Ring Project
