Primo Japan Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Sawano), operator of bridal jewelry specialty shops, announces that on November 30, its cross-company CSR project team Primo Ring Project held a volunteer relief program at the Akaiwa Children’s Center in Kesennuma, one of the regions affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

As part of its support efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake, to date, Primo Japan has donated funds and conducted volunteer disaster relief programs. Plans for this most recent project came about during discussions at our October project meeting, where one project team member noted that we should focus not only on providing material support, but emotional support, as well.

Through an introduction from Miyagi Prefecture’s Welfare Division, we discussed our proposed support project with the Akaiwa Children’s Center in Kesennuma, and learned that although a live fir tree was traditionally donated by local residents each year at Christmas, no tree was expected to arrive this year because of the impact of the March earthquake. We decided to donate a Christmas tree and ornaments, and hold a pre-Christmas charity event where people could join the children in having fun decorating the tree. On the day of the event, our project team members also visited the region and spent time with the children, decorating the tree and making mini-wreaths.

Going forward, Primo Japan will continue to promote its social contribution programs through the Primo Ring Project.
