Primo Japan announces that I-PRIMO Kintetsu Kusatsu Store is opening in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture on Friday, February 21.

◆Increasing market share by expanding to new areas

Shiga Prefecture is a market with a total population of approximately 1.41 million people and 6,500 marrying couples (※1). Despite not opening a store in Shiga Prefecture before, we maintain a market share of approximately 5 % in Kyoto and other nearby areas. Kusatsu City, where we are opening a new store location, is the prefecture’s second-largest city, just behind the prefectural capital city of Otsu. With these two largest cities by population adjacent to one another, we have determined that Shiga Prefecture is a location that is likely to attract many customers. In recent years, Primo Japan has focused on brand promotion and market penetration by renovating our stores throughout Japan and aggressively expanding our overseas store openings in Asia. Expanding into new areas within Japan by opening stores in Tokushima Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture in 2018 has resulted in increased market share in those prefectures. We now aim to cover the Kansai area and further increase our market share by expanding into Shiga Prefecture. 

◆The perfect space for bridal jewelry to commemorate the moments of a lifetime

Our new store is opening in Kintetsu Department Store, a department store situated just one minute’s walk from JR Kusatsu Station that is known for attracting a high number of customers. Due to the high concentration of bridal jewelry competitors and also wedding venues at this location, we expect to convert more of those shoppers looking for bridal jewelry into actual sales. Redevelopment work is also planned for the area around JR Kusatsu Station, and the area is expected to develop more in the future. Based on feedback from our customers, our spacious store interior features private booths installed to provide our customers with a serene space as they make the purchase of a lifetime.
