Through our original brand, I-PRIMO, acting as a brand partner, Primo Japan Inc. is sponsoring the Ring Again project, an initiative that focuses on early detection of rheumatoid arthritis run in partnership between Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and DeSC Healthcare, Inc., a subsidiary of DeNA Co., Ltd.

◆A Ring Can Tell: The “Ring Again” Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Project

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that affects mainly women from their 30s to their 50s. The number of cases of RA is estimated to be between 70,000 and 80,000 in Japan, and 23.7 million worldwide.(*1, 2) It is a systemic disease that causes symptoms such as joint pain and deformity, and the condition may grow worse over time without proper treatment. One early indicator of possible illness occurs when rings that are worn every day suddenly feel strange or uncomfortable. There have been cases that were discovered after patients reported experiencing difficulty putting on or removing rings.

Naturally, we at Primo Japan feel profound sympathy with the intention behind the Ring Again project, which was established to encourage more women to pay attention to changes in their health, and also to detect and treat disease early, simply by noticing changes while wearing their rings. We are therefore proud to sponsor the initiative through our bridal jewelry specialist brand, I-PRIMO, as a partner brand.

To coincide with “Good Couple Day” (Sunday, November 22nd), we launched a special site supporting the Ring Again project in the hopes that, by increasing awareness through wedding and engagement rings that symbolize a couple’s love, perhaps even just a single person might be able to detect and seek early treatment for RA.
