On August 19, 2020, Primo Japan conducted a “Job Practice” activity as a part of the PRIMO RING PROJECT, our company’s internal CSR initiative.

“Job Practice” is one part of an employment support program run by Bridge for Smile, an non-profit organization that supports junior and senior high school students living in residential care facilities as they learn to become independent. The program is an effort to give the students a better understanding of working life while giving them actual work experience. Primo Japan has supported the program since 2010. Employees, many who are PRIMO RING PROJECT members, provide a work experience program that is unique to the bridal industry.

The 2020 Job Practice program was affected by the spread of COVID-19 infections, so rather than holding work experience activities in stores, all activities were conducted online with participants working remotely. Four high school students connected through a video call for an introduction to our company, our store interiors and our products, along with training in etiquette. Through explanations of our customer service procedures, the students were able to experience our company’s “personal support” style of customer service for themselves as our customers do. The participating students smiled and said they were surprised to be able to see the diamonds sparkling even on the screen. This time, we also provided a training lecture in etiquette, which can be used in job hunting, because all four students were high school students looking ahead to their career paths after leaving their residential care facilities.  This year’s program content was modified to improve remote communicate, with students taking quizzes about first impressions and practicing the smiles that are so important at Primo Japan, etc., and the students said the experience gave them a new appreciation of the importance of a smile, and how they are looking forward to using the experience in their job search.

Going forward, Primo Japan will continue to promote the appeal of working in the bridal industry and a positive image of marriage in the future through the Job Practice program.
