In a continuation from 2021 and 2022, Primo Global Holdings Co., Ltd. will sponsor Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2023 (held from Saturday, April 22 to Sunday, April 23, 2023), which is organized by the NPO Tokyo Rainbow Pride.

Background to our sponsorship

Based on our company philosophy of "Making Primo (the best) dreams into Primo (supreme) happiness,” along with our wish to make the dreams of as many people as possible come true and for them to be happy, in 2009 we launched the Primo Ring Project, a company-wide CSR project through which we carry out various activities every year. Since April 2020, we have been working to promote understanding of LGBTQ within the company by creating a system that can be used by employees' spouses and family members without the need to undergo screening, and by implementing training in e-learning for all employees. In November 2022, we received the gold award for the second year in succession in the PRIDE Index 2022,*1 which evaluates companies' LGBTQ initiatives, as formulated by the organization work with Pride.

We endorse the theme of "Press on till Japan changes," as proposed by Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2023, and have decided to sponsor the event for the third time, in a continuation from 2021 and 2022.

About our cross-company CSR activity, the Primo Ring Project

We have four aims that arise from the spontaneity and enthusiasm of each member participating in the project, and each year, various activities are undertaken based on these aims. The abilities of each participant overlap, and a circle of smiles (in other words, a ring) spreads to employees, local residents, business partners, and customers. Since 2018, we have also been working on activities more in line with global standards, while keeping in mind the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations.

<The Primo Ring Project team>

The mission of the Primo Ring Project team is to actively promote the company's CSR activities, and the team comprises members from around the country who volunteered as candidates to join. With the aim of solving social issues and in order to tackle the four project aims in a well-balanced manner, particularly in terms of activities that make a social contribution, the members themselves are responsible for all aspects of the project, including everything from proposing and implementing activities to raising awareness within the company.

[Project member comment]

At the beginning of the project, the activities were mainly carried out by the members alone, but in the last few years, we have encouraged the participation of other employees because we want to deepen the permeation of the project’s philosophy both inside and outside the company, and through collaborating with partner organizations, we are carrying out various projects all over the country. Using both video conferences and face-to-face meetings, we would like to continue expanding the ring of happiness while maintaining close communication with members in locations all over the country, with the aim of realizing our company philosophy of "Making Primo (the best) dreams into Primo (supreme) happiness."

About Tokyo Rainbow Pride

Pride is a globally recognized annual event held in major cities around the world—including in Western countries—to honor the culture of sexual minorities (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender). Since Tokyo Rainbow Pride was established as a voluntary organization in Japan in 2011, the Pride Parade event has also continued to expand. Approximately 200,000 people participated in the week-long event when it was held in 2019. From 2020, Rainbow Pride Tokyo has mainly been held online to prevent the spread of infection from COVID-19, but a real-life pride festival and pride parade are scheduled to be held in 2023.
