In anticipation of “Proposal Day” on the first Sunday in June, Primo Japan’s bridal jewelry brand I-PRIMO announces the release on the I-PRIMO Online Guide to Marriage Proposals the results of their annual “Proposal Awareness Survey” targeting men and women in their 20s and 30s who have either proposed or registered a marriage.

The “Proposal Awareness Survey”, which has been running since 2008, is now in its the 14th year in 2021. As in previous years, the 2021 results show that about 90% of people said that a proposal is a necessary step in getting married, and that for around 70% of those people, an engagement ring is also a must for the proposal. Throughout the 14 years of the survey, demand for marriage proposals and engagement rings has risen each year, and results show that many men and women wish to have a proposal with an engagement ring. This year’s results also reflect the unique circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, showing that around 40% of respondents got married because of it, and that couples have spent much more time together while working remotely at home.
