The "PRIMO RING PROJECT," a CSR activity aimed at spreading happiness, conducted environmental conservation activities in the Yodo River.
Primo Global Holdings Co., Ltd., Ltd. conducted its second environmental conservation activity in the Yodo River in Osaka Prefecture, following last year's event, as part of its SDGs initiatives through the company-wide CSR activity "PRIMO RING PROJECT."
◆ Local cleanup and environmental education
Based on our corporate philosophy of "Making PRIMO (the best) dreams into PRIMO (supreme) happiness PROJECT," a cross-departmental CSR activity, in 2009 with the desire to fulfill the dreams of as many people as possible and give shape to their happiness. We conduct various activities every year based on four activity policies: "Staying close to our customers' feelings," "Delivering trustworthy products," "Cultivating a better working environment," and "Protecting the community and environment and passing it on to the next generation." This time, as part of our activities to "Protecting the community and environment and passing it on to the next generation," we conducted an environmental conservation activity that combined community cleanup and experiential environmental learning around the Yodogawa riverbed with the cooperation of the specified non-profit organization "Osaka Umi Sakura."
◆Activity Details
Morning activities: Picking up trash and understanding the environment
In addition to members of the "PRIMO RING PROJECT," participants were recruited from within the company, and the event was held on October 6, 2026.
In the morning, participants learned about the river and its surrounding environment while picking up trash along the Yodo River. They received explanations about the history and ecosystem of the Yodo River and collected not only large pieces of trash but also microplastics. It was more than just a cleanup activity; it was an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the river's ecosystem and the current state of the trash problem. A "fun trash-collecting event" was also held to foster interaction among participants, raising awareness of environmental conservation while having fun.
Afternoon activities: Environmental learning and upcycling experience
In the afternoon, Mr. Yasunobu Nabeshima, Chairman of the Osaka Museum of Natural History Friends Association, gave a lecture on marine debris and microplastic issues. We learned that much of the debris that ends up in the ocean originates from cities and rivers, and that the debris flowing into the sea via the Yodo River is currently affecting marine life and ecosystems. We also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of preventing plastic waste from entering the ocean in the first place, as it is difficult to completely recover plastic waste once it has entered the sea.
In the second half, we experienced making a sacoche bag using fabric scraps. It was an opportunity to learn about the concept of upcycling, which finds new value in everyday materials, and to think about environmental issues while having fun.
Through cleaning activities, lectures, and workshops, participants experienced firsthand the microplastic problem and the importance of resource reuse. Through hands-on work, reflection, and discussion, each participant felt they had taken the first step towards environmental conservation in their immediate surroundings. We will continue these activities, valuing our connections with the local community, to build a better future.
About the PRIMO RING PROJECT, a CSR activity that spreads the circle of happiness
The "PRIMO RING PROJECT" is run by enthusiastic and proactive members from across Japan who volunteered to actively promote our company's CSR activities. Every year, various activities are carried out based on four activity policies, and the members themselves handle all processes from ideation to execution and internal awareness campaigns. The goal is for the combined strength of each individual to create a ring of happiness that connects and spreads among employees, customers, business partners, and the local community. Currently, we are also working on activities aimed at creating a sustainable and better world from an SDG perspective.
