The PRIMO RING PROJECT, a CSR activity that spreads the circle of happiness, carried out environmental conservation activities in the Yodo River

Primo Global Holdings Co., Ltd., Ltd. conducted environmental conservation activities in the Yodogawa River in Osaka Prefecture as part of its efforts toward the SDGs through the company-wide CSR activity "PRIMO RING PROJECT."

◆ Local cleanup and environmental education

Based on our corporate philosophy of "Making PRIMO (the best) dreams into PRIMO (supreme) happiness" we launched the "PRIMO RING PROJECT," an internal, cross-company CSR initiative, in 2009, with the desire to make as many people's dreams come true and bring them happiness. Each year, we carry out various activities based on our four action guidelines: "Being close to our customers' aspirations," "Delivering trustworthy products," "Cultivating a better working environment," and "Protecting the local community and the environment for future generations." This year, as part of our "Protecting the local community and the environment for future generations" initiative, we conducted an environmental conservation activity around the Yodogawa riverbed, combining local cleanup with hands-on environmental learning. This activity, conducted with the cooperation of the nonprofit organization Osaka Umi Sakura, Sanada Seiko Co., Ltd., and the Matsumoto Seminar at Kinki University, involved local environmental conservation and environmental learning.

◆Activity Details

Morning activities: Picking up trash and understanding the environment

We solicited volunteers from outside the "PRIMO RING PROJECT" and the project was held on October 23, 2025.
In the morning, participants on the Yodo River riverbank learned about the river and its surrounding environment while picking up trash. Yodo River rangers explained the river's history and ecosystem, and they collected not only large pieces of trash but also microplastics. This was not just a simple cleanup, but also a valuable opportunity to understand the river's ecosystem and the current state of the trash problem. A "fun trash competition" was also held to deepen interactions between participants, and the event incorporated creative ideas to raise awareness while having fun.

Afternoon Activities: Hands-on Workshops

In the afternoon, learning and hands-on workshops on environmental issues were held. First, Osaka Umi Sakura introduced examples of environmental issues such as the Yodo River and those close to home, helping participants understand the challenges facing the local environment. In the following workshop, participants collaborated with Sanada Seiko Co., Ltd. and members of Kinki University's Matsumoto Seminar to experience recycling and upcycling plastic products. Collected eco-caps were put through an injection molding machine to create key chains. Participants also made eco-bags using discarded T-shirts, experiencing the concept of upcycling, which transforms waste into valuable products, and gaining a concrete example of environmental consideration. The subsequent discussion included an exchange of opinions on reducing plastic waste and environmental initiatives, further deepening participants' learning.

Through the cleanup activities and workshops, participants were able to experience the issue of microplastics and the importance of recycling waste, while also raising their awareness of environmental conservation. By getting their hands dirty, thinking, and talking, each participant was able to realize the first step in "environmental conservation that can be done in our immediate surroundings." We will continue to work with the local community in activities that will lead to the future.

About the PRIMO RING PROJECT, a CSR activity that spreads the circle of happiness

The "PRIMO RING PROJECT" is run by a group of self-motivated and enthusiastic members from all over the country who volunteered to actively promote our company's CSR activities. Every year, various activities are carried out based on four activity guidelines, and the members themselves are involved in all processes, from ideation to execution and internal awareness raising. The goal is for the circle of happiness (ring) to connect and spread among employees, customers, business partners, and local communities through the combined efforts of each individual. Currently, the project is also being carried out as an activity aiming for a sustainable and better world from the perspective of the SDGs.
